Suzie Marsden, amp'd careers limited

Business overview

I love my job. How many of us can say that? Not enough and we think that is grim!

When we love our job, we work harder but it doesn’t feel like it, because we’re in the moment. It’s backed by research: people who love their jobs are happier, more productive and less likely to suffer mentally and physically. There are economic benefits too. Companies with engaged employees are higher performing.
Joyful work leads to a more joyful life, all round. It’s kind of obvious, right?
Apparently not. Only a handful of people report high job engagement.

That’s where we come in. At amp’d, we’re crazy about helping people find joy in work. We believe it comes down to aligning your passions and skills with the right work, the right industry, for the right cause. So we’ve developed programmes that tease all that stuff out. We won’t tell you what to do or where to go. But we'll give you the tools you need to decide and a plan for a more joyful worklife

Products and services I offer

We help individuals in two ways;
1. Career coaching for people who are stuck and have no idea what they want to do next or who have recently finished a role (either voluntarily or involuntarily) and need a moment to pause and grow clarity and confidence for what's next. Typically that is 3 - 4 coaching sessions.
2. Getting them job market fit with a CV and LinkedIn profile review and job interview tips, tricks and most importantly practice! This is often just a couple of coaching sessions.

We love helping students get clear on what to do after school or Uni - with a package of three 1.5 hour coaching sessions that helps them get clear on what's important for them from the world of work, exploring options and creating a career plan. At the same time we're teaching them career planning skills.

Most of our work is helping organisations to;
1. retain their people with our Careers that Work programme, making it easy for people to take the driver’s seat in their career planning.We take a fresh approach with a workshop programme based on Design Thinking principles, delivered over four 3-hour sessions.
2. Grow the capability of their leaders to have career development conversations with their people, by taking a coach approach.
3. Support their people going through organisational change with career transition support for their change affected people - either one-on-one coaching or through cost effective workshop programmes.

Why I'm in the Venus Network

After a long career in the corporate sector, this is the first time I’ve run my own business. I’ve got a lot to learn! I joined Venus because I wanted to be part of a group of women I can learn from and to share my insights with as well. I really like the structure and framework of Venus.

My point of difference

What makes us a bit different?

1. My business partner Sharon Spence and I are business leaders with a wealth of experience from a range of industries. I'm an International Coach Federation accredited coach (ACC)

2. Participants in our coaching or workshop programmes apply creative problem solving tools (Design Thinking) to the challenge of what is next. We know figuring out what to do next is often a tricky problem with multiple potential solutions. Design Thinking is a fantastic problem solving methodology for these sorts of problems.

3. We don't use a battery of tests to tell people the answer. We give them a framework to solve the problem themselves, which they can use again and again, throughout their lives.
